I have set up shop to work on my painting in my grandma's little sewing room. (Grandma, I promise I will put it back just the way it was when I am done!) It's so nice to to not have to clean up and put away supplies every time I'm done and then get them all out again next time I want to paint!
I'm about a third of the way done the under painting now. For those of you who don't speak art, an under painting is when you paint the whole picture in one color to get the shades and tones down and then you add the color on top later! Here's what I've gotten done so far. It's about a third of the whole canvas.
I'm doing my under painting in burnt umber - hence why it's all brown. : ) I still have to add the leaves to this section but I'm thinking of doing them last, when all the rest of the under painting is done, as the leaves are kind of the unifying element of the picture. We'll see though.
