To My Father

Some of the best memories are made in the simple moments of life. It's those memories that stick out most when I think of you.

Fixing anything that's broken or close to being broken in the house. Teaching us the value of hard work by making us do it! Planting trees on earth day. Building a patio in the backyard. Landscaping the yard. Helping mom do the dishes. Being stubbornly determined to fix things. Not being afraid of spending time with your daughters. PIE Sundays. Your sense of humor (which no matter how much I rolled my eyes at I now find myself making similar cracks). Driving me to middle school everyday. Listening to NPR. Finding you out working in your work room. The smell of freshly cut wood. Letting me use your woodworking tools for art projects. Helping me make my birdhouse art project.  Girl Scout Daddy Daughter Dances. Reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone out-loud. Being the sense of reason when I'm too frugal to buy myself new clothes that I need. Looking forward to your arrival at the end of girls camp each year. Letting me have a guinea pig even though you were allergic to it. Constructing a swing set for your daughters. Working each year to make sure our garden bloomed. Answering my computer questions. Patiently help me understand high school chemistry. Taking me along on your business trip to Texas. But most of all for being proud of me and loving me no matter what.

I love you Dad! Hope you have a fantastic Father's Day!

  1. Thanks Em! It has been a joy being your father. I only hope I haven't slowed your progression with my weaknesses. I am so thankful for the memories you and your sisters have given me. It has been very meaningful.

I am glad that you know that I am proud of you and love you no matter what! That is true. I hope you know that your Father in Heaven feels the same way too.
