There's a Place Called Home

Today in class we were talking about place attachment; when one place holds precious memories and intrinsic meaning to you. At the end of class we had to write a place we are attached to. I wrote about my families favorite camping spot. If I can remember right my family has gone camping there every year since I was nine.

My sister and I used to share a tent and we were so proud of our space. We even had a bag to put our dirty shoes in so that our tent would not get dirt dragged in everywhere. We have made lots of memories up there over the years. One time a bear came to our site and we all ran to the car to hide but my one sister was in the tent getting ready and had no idea there was a bear outside. Nor did we tell her till after he'd left. Or the time it was raining super hard so we had to escape to a local hotel and get Arby's for dinner. And of course stopping at A&W on the way home for root beer floats.

We always hike our favorite trail which leads to this beautiful waterfall. Then we sit on the rocks and eat trail mix together. Sometimes we go exploring the rocks around and see how far we can get.

Then we go to this huge field filled with boulders and climb around on them. I still have yet to make it to the other side. The boulders are 12 feet deep and I forget how large the field is but it's pretty intense.

One of the beautiful foggy mornings. In the mornings it is always freezing cold so we all make hot chocolate and warm ourselves up!

I love this place and I love going there with my family. One night last summer when we were all up there we realized that we probably won't be able to get there all together soon. With college adventures and marriages our lives have changed. But the memories made there will always stay with me as I trek out my own path through the woods of life. But just once more, can I go back and escape?
