Stories

So I'm afraid this blog might turn into my thoughts on quotes I find and like, but oh well. If that's what happens, it's fine by me cause quotes can say things a lot better than I can. On that note, I've been thinking lately about one of my favorite quotes:

"Rarely do we invest the time to open the book of another's life.
When we do, we are usually suprised to find
it's cover so misleading and it's reviews so flawed."
-Richard Paul Evans

When I first read this quote I fell in love with it. It was love at first read! Sometimes people assume that everything in your life is perfect and going extremely well but really, that's just because they only see the facade you put on. A wise person once told me, don't judge people by what you see at church because that's their Sunday best. And not just in matters of clothing.

I love the idea of the cover being misleading and the reviews flawed, cause the only people who really know what your story is about are you and those you let read it. Everyone else only knows what they can tell by the cover. I also think it's a relief to realize that nobody's perfect and everyone has their own challenges in life that they have to deal with which is perfectly normal.

So I've been trying lately to not judge those I interact with based on their covers but to take the time to really get to know their stories. At least the parts of them they let me in on. So here's to life's' stories. Their ups, their downs, their joy, their sorrow, but most of all the time we have to enjoy them.
