Today I've been thinking,
what does it mean to be brave?
When you turn down a job offer, especially in this economy, because it doesn't feel right and it doesn't seem the right thing to do, are you really being wise?
Or are you just being foolish?
And when you're shaking as you click the send button to your email saying, "I've given this position a lot of thought and feel as though it's not the right time in my career for this position,"
Are you really being brave?
And as you drive around the place your grew up and you have to start fighting back the tears because you don't know the answer to any of the questions plaguing your mind,
Are you really being brave?
So what am I basing my decisions on?
Not my fear that another job offer won't come,
or my fear that I'm making a mistake,
or any of my fears.
As the wisdom of Princess Diaries says
"Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the judgement
that something else is more important than fear."
It's faith.
My faith that things will work out if I trust my Heavenly Father.
And that's it.
There's nothing more I can do.
"Be not afraid, only believe."
Mark 5:36
It takes a lot of courage to do that! And I know it will all work out for the best!
ReplyDeleteI love this, Em! You are INCREDIBLE. The Lord loves you so, so much, and I know that he has so much in store for you! Follow your heart, continue to listen to the spirit, keep to the faith. You WILL succeed. You are so talented and an altogether amazing lady, and you will be where you are meant to be. <3 Stay strong, sister! Miss you lots! You always have a home in Allentown, PA with me if you ever need a place to crash or just to get away and think for a bit! Sometimes the world gets very loud, but always remember that you just need to tune it out and just go with what YOU think you should do, regardless of what anyone else says/thinks. :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly are both brave and faithful.
ReplyDeletePresident Harold B Lee once told President Packer, "You must learn to walk to the edge of the light, and then a few steps into the darkness; then the light will appear and show the way before you." Then he quoted these eighteen words from the Book of Mormon: "Dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith." I think you are in pretty good company! The light will come, the sun always rises!
